However, I'm excited to present this example portal as a showcase of my skills and the components I have developed. This project features the branding for the Boldview Baseball Club, illustrating the expertise and techniques I applied in my professional work.

At Fortress, a Sports Financial Technology company specialising in developing fan engagement portals and other innovative tools, I had the opportunity to create and lead the design efforts.

As the first full-time design hire, I played a pivotal role in transforming the initial beta version of the portal into a fully-fledged platform, ultimately engaging over 1,000,000 fans and laying the foundations for a team to take the design elements of the portal forward.

Through a blend of creative insight and strategic innovation, I not only shaped the product's vision but also spearheaded efforts to enhance its user experience, driving significant growth and scaling our offerings to meet the evolving needs of our clients and their fanbase.
The Fan Portal design system is encompasses various aspects such as:

Points, Challenges, Rewards and much more.
Rewards Section (Burn Points):
Rewards items are divided into four distinct categories: Marketplace, Events, Auctions, and Raffles.
Each category offers unique functionalities tailored to enhance the fan experience.
Marketplace
This category allows users to purchase any available item using points or money.
Events
Similar to the Marketplace, this category enables users to purchase tickets to specific events or experiences offered by the club.
Auctions
In this category, users bid against each other until the countdown timer reaches zero.
Raffles
Combining elements of both the Marketplace and Auctions, this category requires users to purchase raffle tickets until the countdown timer ends. One ticket is then randomly selected as the winner.
Wallet Items
Once a user purchases or wins an item, it is stored in the Wallet section, where the user can view its current status and additional descriptive information.
Challenges Section (Earn Points):
Challenges are categorised into several distinct types: Multiple Punches, Multiple Activities, Progress Bar, Number Counter, and Single Action.
Multiple Punches
This type involves repetitive actions, often represented by a user interface similar to a stamp collection, with a maximum of 10 punches.
Multiple Activities
This type is based on completing various distinct actions.
Number Counter
Similar to Multiple Punches, this type is used when the number of required actions exceeds 10, providing a better user experience.
Progress Bar
This type tracks milestone or simple progress actions towards an end goal.
Single Action
As the name suggests, this type requires the user to complete a single action to complete the challenge.
Badges
Including Badges, these challenges help users to stay more engaged and motivated, as they strive to collect all of the badges to enhance their overall fan experience.
Payment
Transfer, Discounts, Direct Authorisation and much more.
The Payment section utilizes a direct authorization functionality, requiring fans to link their personal payment card with their club-issued fan card.

Once linked, fans can manage their cards with several options: adding additional cards, freezing the current card, or deleting any card. When a card is active, fans can use their credit card at various online or in-store affiliates connected with the club.

This functionality allows fans to earn more points for their spending, both within the stadium grounds and outside, enhancing the overall fan experience.

Additionally, linking the card enables its use across other parts of the portal for purchasing Rewards items, Memberships, and various other essential products that can be used both within the portal and externally.
Registration
Onboarding new or old fans.
This section is designed to accommodate various scenarios depending on the specific requirements of each club's Rewards program. However, it typically includes the following key components:


Login Page: This page allows existing users to securely access their accounts by entering their credentials.

Registration: A comprehensive registration process enables new users to create an account, ensuring they provide all necessary information for a personalised experience.

First Time User Terms & Conditions: Upon their initial login, new users are presented with the program's Terms & Conditions. They must review and accept these terms to proceed, ensuring they understand the rules and benefits of the Rewards program.

Kids Registration
: This specialised registration process is designed for younger fans, with appropriate safeguards and parental consent requirements to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Partner Registration: Users can register to become partners by using a secret credential they receive via email. Once registered, they become part of the Rewards program and share the same benefits as the user who invited them.


By incorporating these elements, the section provides a seamless and professional user experience tailored to the diverse needs of the club's fan base.
Gamification
Specific action based challenges, games and much more.
This section is designed to engage fans through a variety of interactive games. It includes the following components: Trivia, Polls, Predictor, Score Predictor, and Pick a Player.

These games are designed to enhance the fan experience by encouraging active participation and offering opportunities to earn points and rewards.
Trivia
A straightforward game where fans answer questions to earn points.
Polls
This tool collects fan opinions. After answering a question, fans can see the percentage of how others responded, promoting engagement and insight.
Predictor
Similar to Trivia, but focused on matches. Fans predict specific scenarios, such as who might score first or which team will play next.
Score Predictor
As the name suggests, this game involves predicting the score before a match begins.
Pick a Player
A fantasy game where fans select their favourite player based on various criteria, such as who will score the most or perform specific actions, according to the club's rules.
Leaderboard
As the name suggests, this is a collection of all of the data to showcase how other fans are doing in the game section of the portal.
Kids Programme
Membership and special loyalty activities
The Kids Section is designed to extend the club's Rewards program to younger fans by allowing adult members to add their children to the program. This can be done either through a free membership or a paid option that includes additional benefits, such as exclusive rewards and special merchandise tailored specifically for kids.

Once added to the program, children gain access to a dedicated portal designed specifically for their age group. This portal offers a similar experience to the adult version but features content and activities that are age-appropriate and engaging for younger fans.


There are various scenarios within this section to accommodate different needs:

Multiple Children Registration: Adults can add more than one child to the program, whether they are their own children or others under their care. This feature is particularly useful for those who manage children's activities or sports clubs in their neighbourhood or area.

Extended Family and Friends: In cases where an adult is looking to help friends' children join the program, they can register these kids, even if the parents aren't yet part of the Rewards program. This can encourage broader participation, as parents may be inspired to join when they see how much their children enjoy the program.


By offering these options, the Kids Section not only enhances the fan experience for younger supporters but also fosters greater community engagement, making it easier for families to participate in the club’s activities and rewards.
User Management
Visualise different information & edit
The User Management section is a comprehensive tool that allows fans to visualise and customise various aspects of their membership. It provides a centralised hub for managing personal details, connections, activities, and membership options.


Personal Details
: Fans can view and update the personal information they provided during the registration process. This includes contact details, preferences, and other relevant data, ensuring their profile remains accurate and up-to-date.

Friend and Partner Management: Fans have the ability to add and manage friends as partners within the program. Once these friends register, they share the same benefits as the inviting fan, creating a more connected and engaging experience.

Activity History: This feature allows fans to track their entire activity history within the program. They can view their accumulated points, transaction history, participation in games, and attendance at matches, providing a clear overview of their involvement and progress.

Membership Overview and Upgrades
: Fans can review their current membership status, including any benefits associated with their level. Additionally, they have the option to upgrade to a higher membership tier, unlocking additional perks and enhancing their overall experience.

Shipping Membership Option: Fans have the option to subscribe to a shipping membership, which provides free shipping on all Rewards items won or purchased throughout the year. This membership covers ongoing deliveries of physical rewards, ensuring that items are delivered promptly and without additional cost. This is particularly beneficial for fans who frequently win or purchase items, as it simplifies the logistics and reduces costs associated with receiving their rewards.


By offering these features, the User Management section empowers fans to take full control of their participation in the Rewards program, making it easier to manage their interactions and maximise the benefits they receive.
Use Case
During my tenure at Fortress, I encountered numerous challenges that required innovative solutions, grounded in solid UX/UI principles. My approach involved leveraging user data obtained through various means, constantly refining strategies and conducting thorough research to achieve better results. This iterative process included extensive testing and adjustments to ensure the best possible user experience.

Given the vast scope of the product, strategies often needed to adapt to changing circumstances. However, due to the proprietary nature of Fortress's processes, I will only showcase select aspects of my work. These examples will illustrate my skills and experience in UX/UI design without revealing the full extent of the product's development.
Problems
Throughout my time at Fortress, I faced several significant challenges, but I will focus on two of the most critical:

Engagement and Retention: One of the primary challenges was enhancing user engagement and retention. The goal was to create a more enjoyable experience on the portal, providing users with various opportunities to earn points, which in turn allowed them to access more rewards and benefits. This challenge required constant innovation to keep users motivated and returning to the platform.

Feasibility and Visibility: Another recurring issue involved the platform's usability, particularly concerning accessibility. Many users encountered difficulties due to color impairment issues or struggled with interface elements, such as small buttons or images, that hindered their interaction with the portal. As a UX designer, addressing these issues was crucial to ensuring that the platform was accessible and user-friendly for all fans.
Strategy
Once the problems were identified, I developed a strategic approach that involved:

Data Collection: Gathering comprehensive user data to understand the underlying issues.

Project Timeline Design: Establishing a structured timeline that incorporated cycles of Research, Design Iteration, Testing, and further Design Iteration. This iterative process was essential to refining the user experience and ensuring that each solution was thoroughly vetted before implementation.
Research & Iteration
This phase involved in-depth user research using tools like Google Analytics, heat maps, and user interviews to gain insights into user behavior, needs, and pain points. After analysing this data, I began iterating on the current design, creating wireframes and prototypes that addressed the identified issues.

These designs were then tested internally with cross-functional teams to gather feedback. Based on this feedback, I continued to iterate on the design, refining it until it met the desired outcomes for user experience and satisfaction.
Results
Each project presented unique challenges and required tailored solutions, but some of the most notable outcomes include:

User Satisfaction & Retention: Set a target to increase user satisfaction and retention by at least 60%. This goal was consistently met, resulting in significantly improved user engagement.

User Growth: Aiming for a 30% increase in user growth, I achieved a higher-than-expected growth rate of around 50% in most clubs, demonstrating the effectiveness of the strategies implemented.

Revenue Growth: The target for revenue growth was set at 40%. While this was achieved in many scenarios, in some cases, revenue growth reached up to 50%, although some projects saw an increase of around 30%, reflecting the varied nature of the challenges and solutions applied.

These results highlight my ability to drive meaningful improvements in UX/UI design, contributing to the overall success of the platform and enhancing the fan experience.
